Largest Fixed Wing Medical Transport Company In Texas
As part of its continuing growth strategy, AirMed International has acquired San Antonio-based Air Medical, the largest fixed wing air medical transport company in Texas.
Air Medical's fleet of three jets and two King Air turboprops, equipped for critical care transports, is located at San Antonio International Airport. Those aircraft will join AirMed's fleet, including Beechjet, Cessna Citation, Hawker and Learjet aircraft along with more than 20 King Airs, located at nearly 30 bases.
"Strategically, this acquisition will allow AirMed International to serve growing requirements for critical care transport as we meet the needs of healthcare in the Texas region and enhance support for area military medical transports," said AirMed President Denise Treadwell. "The compassionate, dedicated and experienced Air Medical team that Chairman Joe McCart has built is quite compatible with our professional medical and flight teams."
Air Medical's McCart said, "Denise Treadwell's AirMed International team has integrity, financial strength and commitment to patient care, consequently this sale will benefit our customers and our employees very well into the future." Air Medical has performed emergency and pre-scheduled medical transports for 15 years. Like AirMed, it also conducts international transports and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS).
Membership in AirMed International offers a 24/7 Logistics Center for worldwide medical referrals, consultations, prescription assistance, foreign travel advisories, threat assessments and emergency message services. AirMed is the preferred operator for top hospitals around the globe, including many in Texas, as well as a contracted carrier for the U.S. Department of Defense and Wheels UP private flight club.
With global reach, AirMed International is one of the leading air medical transport companies in the world, with more than 20,000 missions in all 50 states and over 150 countries on six continents. AirMed owns and operates all aircraft, as well as employing its own dispatch, fight, and medical teams. This vertical integration ensures seamless service and world-class care 24/7/365.
