Next To Convention HQ
The National Association of Flight
Instructors (NAFI) has much planned this year for EAA AirVenture
Oshkosh, centered at the NAFI Flight Instructor Headquarters tent.
HQ will again be located just west of the Wearhouse on Knapp
Street, adjacent to Convention Headquarters.
A popular attraction for the past several years has been the
daily pre-flight contest, in which a new Cirrus aircraft is bugged
with ten different squawks that render it unairworthy. Perform the
preflight inspection (daily from 9 a.m.-12 noon), identify the
bugs, and you could win, place or show. Daily prizes are awarded,
plus a grand prize drawing will be held on Saturday afternoon.
Participation is open to all aviation educators including CFIs,
ultralight instructors, and ground instructors as well as all NAFI
members.
In other planned activities, instructors can meet Marty Weaver,
Master CFI, newly appointed head of the FAA’s Sport Pilot
Division and a long-time NAFI member. Marty will spend extended
periods at FIH to discuss the new regulations.
NAFI also plays a major part in the national General Aviation
Awards and will be on stage when FAA Administrator Marion Blakey
presents the awards at the Theater in the Woods on Friday
evening.

- Tuesday, July 27, 10 a.m. in the Castrol Aviation Pavilion:
"The Professional Flight Instructor," presented by JoAnn Hill and
Sandy Hill.
- Wednesday, July 28, 10 a.m. in the Honda Generator Pavilion:
"Help! A Student is Suing Me for All I’m Worth!" presented by
Bob Mackey and Rusty Sachs; and 4 p.m., in the GAMA Pavilion:
"Eight Ways to Improve Your CFI Income," presented by Dorothy
Schick and Rusty
Sachs.
- Thursday, July 29, 2:30 p.m. in the US Tools Pavilion: "True
Confessions Revisited," presented by Doug Stewart, 2004 CFI of the
Year
- Sunday, August 1, 10 a.m. in the GAMA Pavilion: "Using Sport
Pilot to Increase CFI Income," presented by Jack VanDeventer and
Rusty Sachs.
