Airborne 10.25.17: XTI Aircraft Orders, MGL's New E-Gauges, Turkey Drop-Really??

Also: SpaceX Zuma?, Lunar Habitat, Grand Canyon Scenic Airlines, Lockheed Martin's LM-100J

XTI Aircraft says it has received several additional orders and deposits from customers under its pre-sales program, launched at NBAA.

The company stated that the response at the show was very positive and generated additional financial and strategic relationships for the company. The six-seat TriFan 600 will have the speed, range and comfort of a luxury business aircraft and the ability to take off and land vertically, like a helicopter. It will travel at 345 miles an hour, with a range of up to 1,200 miles. Using three ducted fans, the TriFan lifts off vertically. Its two wing fans then rotate forward for a seamless transition to cruise speed and its initial climb. It will reportedly reach 30,000 feet in just ten minutes. MGL Avionics has announced the Vega Series of 2 1/4" Singles for Experimental and Light-Sport Aircraft. The Vega range consists of twelve 2 1/4" color display aviation instruments. Using a high-resolution backlit color graphics display, these instruments provide excellent daylight readability, even in direct sunlight. Each instrument includes a rotary control plus 2 independent keys for easy menu navigation and to access specific instrument features. We're not sure this is life imitating "art" ... or "art" imitating life, but this will strike a chord with anyone who watched the 1978 Thanksgiving episode of "WKRP in Cincinatti". At the annual Yellville Turkey Trot held in northern Arkansas recently, a low-flying plane dropped four turkeys over the festival-goers, who chased down the birds. But nearly everybody seems to know that there is something inherently wrong with the practice, which has reportedly been going on for five decades. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
