CFI Bootcamp Nears 160th CFI Power Hour

Saturday Show Remains Popular choice for Instructors New and Old

CFI Bootcamp's weekly Saturday Afternoon tradition is nearing its 160th show on November 11th, capping off years of free instruction for CFI's fresh and...not so fresh.

The Power Hour broadcasts live on Zoom, bringing in a number of guest speakers and instructors to go over a broad spectrum of CFI topics. Some weeks have touched on Pivotal Altitudes, landing tips, FAA legal interpretations, and EFB tricks. (Perhaps most interesting was "How to Make Over 100K as a Flight Instructor").

Each week, guests can digitally check in at noon Central time, with a brief pre-show catch-up on what happened throughout the previous week. Attendance sits anywhere from 50 to 100, depending on the topic. So far, guests have included Gary 'GPS' Reeves of pilotsafety.org, David St. George from the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators, Hobie Tomlinson (Master Multi-Engine Guru), and others present on their area of expertise.

At the end of each show, Mike fields questions from the class. Mike Shiflett, once FAA and CAA pilot examiner, takes a unique approach to the greater pan-Atlantic curriculum. He sees it as a blend between the American and British training systems, where the UK aims to address the "why's" of training, and the US aims for a more pragmatic, practical tack.

Live shows are free to attend.
