French LSA Manufacturer Establishes Toehold in Florida, Expands Home Facilities

Elixir Aircraft Rolls Out Additional Capacity

French sport plane manufacturer Elixir Aircraft announced a continuation of its never-ending production expansions, this time adding facilities in the US and France.

The new location in France will see the addition of 10,700 square feet near Elixir's flagship location in La Rochelle, France. The new one will produce composite parts for the fuselage and flight control systems, nestled in the comfy little town of Aytré (who apparently offered a better deal for the new factory).

Stateside, Elixir will open a reassembly facility in Florida at the Sarasota Bradenton Airport. Parts delivered from France will be checked, inspected, and assembled into full aircraft there, with the Florida location becoming the adminstrative, sales, and support hub for the entire US domestic market.

The expansion likely comes courtesy of the brand's recent funding efforts, which filled the coffers to the tune of about  €40 million in all. The fundraising continues to be a strength of Elixir Aircraft, a brand heartily supported by the French government and a string of financial entities from the homeland. The latest round saw money from Bpifrance, Innovacom, and even the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region itself, where the La Rochelle flagship facility resides. Elixir has become a mascot of sorts, carrying a banner for all those who want to see French aeronautics once again rise to the top of the industry.
