Airbus Helicopters Announces Additional Run of Aston Martin Edition

Limited Automotive-Inspired ACH130 to Double Production run to 30 Total

Airbus has acceded to market demand to continue the manufacture of the special Aston Martin Edition of the brand’s ACH130 helicopter.

The Aston Martin Edition sees the automotive marque work its sports & luxury magic on the popular VIP corporate transport. Like any limited edition worth its salt, the aircraft sold out far quicker than expected, to the point that Aston Martin and Airbus feel it’s appropriate to keep the arrangement going beyond the initial 15 helicopters made under the partnership.

The initial run of aircraft have gone to eager customers all over the world, but there's still more than enough interest in more. Airbus Corporate Helicopters now announces the creation of another batch to address the interest, though the next run will likely leave some scouring the used listings for years to come - it is a limited edition, after all. Previous owners shouldn’t fret about lowering values, either - Airbus says that it will only manufacture another 15 of the aircraft. For automotive enthusiasts immersed in the world of ultra-rare sports car collecting, 30 is nothing, not far removed from legendary homologation specials. Chances are good that operators won't ever come across a similar ACH130 while parking atop their local skyscraper helipad. And with the Aston Martin brand on it, isn't that rarity half the allure?

“There’s no question that bringing together our values of excellence and quality with Aston Martin’s commitment to high-performance automotive elegance has resulted in a helicopter that always excites customers," said Airbus Helicopter exec Frederic Lemos. "But we really did not imagine that the market would move so fast, so I’m delighted to be able to commit to these future production slots and I look forward to talking to interested customers at EBACE.”

Aston Martin echoed the sentiments, as chief creative officer, Marek Reichman said “As an ultra-luxury brand, Aston Martin is passionate about collaborating with designers and engineers from other disciplines to create special products that represent both our brand values and design ethos. We are delighted with the high interest in the ACH130 Aston Martin Edition and look forward to continuing our fantastic relationship with ACH.”
