One Device Transforms Five Video Formats To SDI

FDS Avionics has introduced the Penta Converter, an advanced hardware video converter for the company’s ultra-thin, high resolution EDGE Series displays. Video sources include HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, VGA and composite. The Penta Converter delivers a high-definition SDI signal.

Penta delivers a simple and elegant solution for any aircraft cabin display installation by enabling the addition of auxiliary input and carry on devices into the cabin entertainment system. With a compact form factor and easy-to-use commands, the Penta is ideal for aviation. It can also be controlled via a CMS, switch buttons or wirelessly when the do CAPSULE is present.

"The Penta Converter is the perfect complement to our incredibly thin, lightweight EDGE Series displays," says Dave Dodson, Marketing Director. "It allows the displays to be used in practically all existing cabin installations."

Users can plug in laptops, smart devices, cameras, projectors, gaming systems, high-definition equipment and more. The signals can be carried to individual monitors and headsets as well as audio and video switching equipment.

Connects Composite Video, VGA, Display Port, SDI, HDMI signals to the cabins entertainment system. The unit is designed to operate in an airplane environment at 28VDC. Three independent converter/scaler inputs on front, one SDI (pass through) input on rear LED indicators display which input is currently selected.
