Bombardier Arrives at Farnborough Airshow 2012

Brings A Full Complement of Aircraft, Introduces New Branding Campaign

The world's third largest civil aircraft manufacturer, Bombardier Aerospace is returing to the Farnborough International Airshow with a display of its portfolio of business and commercial aircraft. During this event, Bombardier will showcase its products, technical expertise, customer support and aircraft maintenance services. It is also the first time the Company will introduce its new branding campaign to an international audience at an airshow.

"Farnborough is a highlight in our aerospace calendar of events as it consistently attracts the largest gathering of aviation customers, manufacturers, suppliers, and government representatives," said Guy C. Hachey, President and Chief Operating Officer, Bombardier Aerospace. "This is also an opportunity to launch our new brand, The Evolution of Mobility, to a global audience. In just a few words, we have encapsulated our promise to all our stakeholders - to create better ways to move people.

"While the business and commercial aircraft markets continue to recover, and are trending positively, current indicators remain mixed," Mr. Hachey continued. "Bombardier will stay ahead by investing in its future. We are strengthening our global reach by seizing opportunities in key markets, by expanding in emerging countries, and by responding to our customers' needs to develop innovative and sustainable solutions. While we are a global company, we remain local with an ever-growing network of service centres and production sites in communities around the world."

Featured on static display will be five airplanes from Bombardier's portfolio of business and commercial aircraft, including the ultra long-range Global 6000 jet - featuring the new Vision Flight Deck - the super midsize Challenger 300 jet, the Learjet 45 XR aircraft, the Q400 NextGen turboprop airliner and the CRJ900 NextGen regional jet. In the static display area, guests will also experience the next-generation of commercial air travel when they enter Bombardier's unique CSeries aircraft dome.

The CSeries aircraft dome features geodesic fabric architecture and, for the first time in Europe, will house the CSeries aircraft's flight deck demonstrator. Making his debut this year at the Farnborough Airshow, Mike Arcamone, President, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft, will be on hand to welcome visitors who will also experience the single-aisle CSeries aircraft's widebody-type environment in the aircraft's cabin demonstrator. State-of-the-art 2D and 3D entertainment will also feature prominently in the CSeries aircraft dome.

However, analysts think that there will not be a crush of orders for the CSeries airplanes at Farnborough. Reuters reports that potential buyers are likely to hold off until one of the airplanes actually flies before filling up the order book.

Bombardier plans to test-fly the CSeries airplane by the end of the year, which will be a good indication as to whether they can meet their projected production schedule. Stonecap Securities analyst Sott Rattee told Reuters that the airlines who are going to pre-order have pretty much already done so, and others will likely wait until they have more data about the airplane. He says Bombardier may secure a handful of orders at Farnborough, but that would be about it.

Bombardier said it announced orders as they come in, rather than waiting to make them at major air shows. The company recently announced a $7.3 billion business jet order from NetJets.

The Farnborough International Airshow runs from Monday, July 9, to Friday, July 13, for trade visitors, and Saturday, July 14 to Sunday, July 15, for public visitors.
