DJI, Insta360 Fight for First Spot in the 360 Drone Market

Insta360 Unveils ‘Antigravity’ Just Days Before DJI’s Design is Set to Launch

Drone manufacturer DJI and prominent camera maker Insta360 are both looking to become the ‘first’ in the 360-degree drone market. And, with Insta360’s Antigravity debut coming just 3 days before DJI planned to release a design of its own, it’s going to be a close race.

Though details are limited, Antigravity is pitched as the world’s first true 360 drone, capturing immersive 8K video and weighing under 250 grams to stay beginner-friendly. Its tall design and rumored twin-lens setup aim to deliver seamless 360-degree footage—without the propellers getting in the way.

While DJI is still keeping its cards close, Insta360 is clearly angling to dominate the niche early, branding the new drone as the start of a whole new category. A leaked video shows what may be the final prototype, featuring upward and downward-facing cameras plus dual front sensors for obstacle avoidance. Full specs are still under wraps, but the design seems to target creators looking for more expressive aerial footage.

Antigravity’s marketing leans hard into “inclusive, intuitive” flying, and its release could mark a shift in how drones are used for storytelling and content. DJI, with its huge market presence, is unlikely to stay quiet for long… But if Insta360’s head start pays off, the 360 drone space might have its first serious contender before DJI even makes its move.

That said, both companies may face new hurdles in the US if national security legislation moves forward. A pending review of DJI could lead to a ban in 2025, and Insta360’s China-based headquarters might not offer a clean workaround either. So while the race for 360 dominance is heating up, regulatory turbulence could complicate who actually crosses the finish line.
