Aero-News: Quote of the Day

ANN's Quote of the Day usually derives from current news, though we reserve the right to pick quotes out of history that have a bearing on the day's events and issues.

Sometimes, you'll find them timely and in keeping with the content of the day's news... and sometimes, they'll just be thought-provoking.

Reader suggestions and comments are welcome... and if particularly intriguing, timely, or poignant, may themselves become future Quotes of the Day.

Let us hear from you, folks!

Aero-News Quote of the Day

“Less than a year ago we didn’t even know if powered, controlled flight of an aircraft at Mars was possible. Now, we are looking forward to Ingenuity’s involvement in Perseverance’s second science campaign. Such a transformation of mindset in such a short period is simply amazing, and one of the most historic in the annals of air and space exploration.”

Source: Thomas Zurbuchen, the associate administrator of NASA’s science mission directorate, discussing Ingenuity's mission having been extended through the coming months, guaranteeing its operations through September of 2022. The little helicopter has survived the harsh Martian seasons and continued its brief flights in a display of endurance that has vastly outperformed expectations held by the NASA engineers in charge of the project.
