Smartphone Powered Paper Airplanes?

Challenge Your Kids To an Airplane Design Contest And Win

If you are looking for things to do with idle kids, challenge them to a paper airplane building contest and then surprise them with your smartphone-controlled, paper airplane boosting kit.

The PowerUp 4.0 is a device that can be attached to your paper airplane design to take them to the next level. The device will run you about $70 but is well worth it if only for the nostalgia and fun it will bring.

After purchase, you will open your kit to find everything you need to strap a dual motor to your airplane. Included are a USB charger, spare propellers, and four templates to build with.

The dual-motor setup includes a Bluetooth module that connects to your phone and can fly up to a range of 230 feet at speeds of 20 mph.

The construction of the 4.0 is stable although super lightweight, as you can imagine. It is made of carbon fiber and includes a nylon reinforced nose and motor mount that can withstand impact and keep on flying. The auto-stabilizers enable flight in imperfect weather.

To use your device, you will need to download an app to function alongside the device. The app can store data from previous flights and allows you to do barrel rolls, loops, and hammerhead flight patterns.

The flight time on the device is currently only 10 minutes, but the upside to that is the battery only takes about 30 minutes to charge.
