Kate Dougherty Tapped For The Lindbergh Foundation

PR Professional Has Long Aviation History

The Lingbergh Foundation announced Wednesday that Kate Dougherty of Kate Dougherty Public Relations has joined the board of directors.

"We are thrilled to have Kate join our board of directors," said Foundation President Knox Bridges. "Kate is a great believer in the Foundation's mission, and her many years in public relations and credibility in the aviation industry will be a tremendous asset to the Foundation and complement our already strong board leadership."

Kate Dougherty is owner of Dougherty Public Relations.  Her client list is a diverse group of aviation companies and foundations including Avidyne, Forward Vision, and MT Propellers, among others.  Prior to developing her private business, Ms. Dougherty was the public relations director for Cirrus Design for seven years and employed by them for ten years. She led numerous national and international product launch campaigns for Cirrus Design and directed public relations activities surrounding the first Cirrus Airframe Parachute System save.

Ms. Dougherty has a Broad Field Social Studies degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. She is a member of Experimental Aircraft Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and a former member of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, Communication Committee. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Duluth Aviation Institute.

Each year, The Charles A. and Anne Morrow Lindbergh Foundation presents Lindbergh Grants to individuals whose proposed research or education projects will make important contributions toward improving the quality of life by balancing technological advancements and the preservation of our environment. Awarded in amounts up to $10,580 each, a symbolic figure representing the cost of the "Spirit of St. Louis" in 1927, the Grants are made in numerous areas of special interest to Charles and Anne Lindbergh. They include aviation/aerospace, agriculture, arts and humanities, biomedical research and adaptive technology, conservation of natural resources, education, exploration, health and population sciences, intercultural communication, oceanography, waste disposal management, water resource management, and wildlife preservation.
