The NBAA has announced the selection of five recipients of 2016 International Operators Scholarships.

The scholarship winners are:

Arthur “AJ” Ramey: Ramey is a GIII and GIV pilot with Haymon Sports, LLC. He plans to use the scholarship funds to take the Managing the Corporate Aviation Function program at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. He will receive $5,500 toward his education.

Steve Brewer: Brewer, an aircraft dispatcher with Chevron USA, Inc., will use his funds to attend the International Operators Conference (IOC) and pursue NBAA’s Certified Aviation Manager credential. He will receive $4,500 toward his education.

Mary Margaret Turton: A senior at Southland Academy in Americus, GA, Turton’s father’s career as a pilot inspired her interest in aviation, specifically the business side. She plans on attending Auburn University, where she will study aviation and international business. She will receive $3,500 toward her education.

Joshua Hernandez: Hernandez, a senior at Quincy University in Ohio, is a private pilot and pursuing bachelor’s degrees in aviation and aviation management. He previously worked as an intern in NBAA’s operations division. Hernandez plans to use the scholarship funds to offset the cost of his instrument rating, and will receive $2,500 toward his education.

Pascal Holtkamp: A junior at Middle Tennessee State University, Holtkamp is studying aerospace with a concentration in administration. He plans to use his awarded funds to offset the cost of his flight training to obtain his CFII and MEI rating. He will receive $2,000 toward his education.

The International Operators Committee Scholarship is designated for use by the recipients for professional development in business aviation careers, with a focus on international operations.

The following sponsors provide funding for the scholarship:

  • Jeppessen
  • Jetex
  • United Aviation Services (UAS) International Trip Support
  • UVair (Universal Aviation and Weather, Inc.)

Scholarship recipients will be honored at NBAA’s 43rd annual International Operators Conference (IOC16), which takes place in San Diego, CA, from March 21 to 24. At the conference, representatives from the sponsors and the IOC Committee will be present to recognize this year's recipients. Learn more about IOC16.
