Aero-TV: Sector Leaders to Gather at NAFI Summit

Autumn in Lakeland

Autumn 2023 will see the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) convene a Flight Instruction Safety and Business Summit at Lakeland, Florida’s SUN ‘n FUN campus. The 24 through 26 October event will host current and prospective Certificated Flight Instructors (CFIs) and feature addresses and presentations set forth by flight training luminaries, aviation industry advocates, government representatives, and media.

By way of invitation, NAFI president Paul J. Preidecker penned an open letter reading in part: “On behalf of all of us at NAFI, I want to invite you to join us for this important gathering. The NAFI Summit will bring the flight instruction community together to share tips, techniques, best practices, relevant business skills, and networking opportunities.

“Presentations will focus on professionalism, proficiency, and pilot well-being, along with changes to FAA regulations and rules.

“We will shine a light on the troubling high fail-rates the industry is experiencing on initial pilot exams and what you can do to improve your students’ pass-rates. Learn how to run a more profitable full-time or part-time flight instruction business.”

In addition to affording attendees opportunity to connect with their peers, the upcoming Flight Instruction Safety and Business Summit will feature presentations addressing topics the likes of managing one’s own flight instruction business, tips and techniques by which CFIs my improve their teaching skills, analysis of accident data pertaining to instructional flights, accommodating student success, and the effective utilization of emergent technologies.

Founded in 1967 by Ohio State University professor of aviation Jack Eggspuehler, the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) is a United States professional organization for flight instructors. Formerly affiliated with the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), NAFI is currently governed by an 11-member board of directors tasked with ensuring the association remains exclusively and resolutely dedicated to raising and maintaining the professional standing of flight instructors within the aviation community.”
