Even Considering Their Products, They're too Straightforward For Us to Mention, 'Slick'

Dallas-based Corrosion Technologies Corporation (CTC) just announced that, through a transfer of stock ownership, company founder James F. Van Gilder has become chairman of the Board of Directors, while Michael L. Tuite has taken over management of the company as president and chief executive officer.

Started by Van Gilder in 1993, ANN Sponsor CTC manufactures and sells the CorrosionX line of anti-corrosion, lubricant and penetrant products, as well as RejeX, a polymer-based treatment for vehicles that rejects virtually all forms of dirt and grime.

"In ten years," commented Tuite, "Jim Van Gilder (right) has accomplished what few people could. He has taken a company and a product line from start-up to leadership in its markets. I couldn't be more pleased that Jim will be continuing his association with CTC for some time to come." Before starting CTC, Van Gilder spent more than 20 years in aviation publishing with FLYING magazine. Civil and military aviation were the firms first markets. Through its world-wide network of distributors, CTC now also serves customers in the motor vehicle, marine, firearms, commercial and recreational fishing, construction and industrial markets.

"I can't think of anyone  better suited to taking over Corrosion Technologies than Mike Tuite," Van Gilder said. "He knows General Aviation and our other markets inside-out; he has a great track record in advertising and marketing; he has general management experience; and -- most important -- he has passion for the business. An important consideration in selling the business was finding a buyer who would keep it in tact, with no negatives for employees, customers or vendors. I have every confidence that Mike Tuite is the individual to do that."

Before joining CTC early in 2002, Tuite was senior vice president with Howard Schultz & Associates, a Dallas-based financial services firm. Earlier in his career, he held positions as senior advertising executive with Rockwell International, B.F. Goodrich and Campbell-Ewald Advertising in Detroit.

With 140 distributors and 217 aircraft treatment centers around the world, Corrosion Technologies Corporation manufactures and sells CorrosionX, CorrosionX Aviation, CorrosionX FOR GUNS, ReelX and SpeedX. The products use a unique "Fluid Thin Film Coating" technology to prevent rust and corrosion or stop the process where it already exists. Additionally, they are extremely effective lubricants and penetrants. CTC also manufactures RejeX, a long-lasting,  polymer-based soil barrier that makes polished metal and painted surfaces impervious to dirt, grime and stains. The company is in its third consecutive year of sales and profitability growth exceeding 20% per year.
