CAF To Join FAA Rulemaking Committee

ARC Provides Agency Info, Recommendations, Advice

The Commemorative Air Force has been invited by the FAA to participate as a member of the Aviation Rulemaking Committee, or ARC, a Congressionally mandated body charged with providing the agency with critical information, recommendations, and advice regarding its rulemaking affecting a wide range of stakeholders across the aviation.

The CAF joins aircraft owners, operators, pilots, crew members, airports, maintenance providers, manufacturer, passengers, and training organizations in giving the FAA the information it needs on issues across the aviation ecosystem that could result in policy or regulatory changes.

The FAA has a host of advisory committees for every conceivable topic within the industry, 20 that it calls Active Committees, with the ARC being a Federal Advisory Committee within the Active group of committees.

The ARC most recently worked on regulatory issues related to the Air Tour Industry, a segment that is critical to providing the public unique opportunities to experience flight in vintage aircraft.

David Oliver, President and CEO of the CAF, will represent the organization on the committee. He said, “I am very excited to serve on the committee to represent the interests and mission of the CAF and vintage aviation.”

Working together with the other committee members, Oliver will represent the CAF’s perspective and contribute to a formal advisory report that will be submitted to Congress. Those reports act to inform the FAA rulemaking process and potentially affect future rulemaking and/or legislation.

Oliver added, “I’m deeply committed to ensuring the CAF is represented at the national level to promote and advocate for our mission.”
