OK Pilot Was Flying On Suspended License

FAA had issued order, but had allowed Richard Fisher to fly while he appealed decision

The Oklahoma City (OK) pilot who crashed an Aerostar into an Austin (TX) home, killing himself, a couple from Edmond (OK), their two children and a business associate, was flying on a suspended license and had a history of multiple violations and close calls.

The pilot's record, released by the FAA, showed that he had had two crash landings and had been previously cited for running illegal aircraft charter businesses.

On one of his charter flights that almost ended in a crash in 2003, passengers had told authorities that Fisher had narrowly missed a mountain in Colorado.

At the time of the Austin (TX) crash last month, Fisher had already been served with an order suspending his license for a period of 240 days. However, he was allowed to continue flying while he appealed the decision.
