HFI Solicits Scholarship Applicants

Support Available For Upgrades To Commercial Helicopter Certificates

If you've done the math, you know it takes someone committed and passionate to commit to training for a career in aviation today. But scholarships help. Helicopter Association International's Commercial Helicopter Rating Scholarship is specifically geared to students currently in the process of obtaining their commercial licenses. Up to four winners will be selected from qualified applicants, and they will be invited to participate at Heli-Expo 2012 in Dallas, Texas.

This scholarship is funded by Helicopter Foundation International and supporting organizations and individuals, and provides up to $5,000 to assist a candidate who currently holds a private helicopter pilot certificate to advance to commercial. A primary determinant will be evidence of the applicant's skill and ability to be a commercial helicopter pilot and interest in pursuing a career as a pilot in the helicopter industry.

The deadline for submitting applications is November 30th. Scholarships will be awarded in February, 2012.

Payment of scholarship monies is conditional upon receipt of supporting documentation from the attended school that the student has successfully completed the required coursework and has been licensed and received an FAA Commercial Helicopter Pilot Certificate from a certified FAA Part 141 school or international equivalent.

Scholarship funds will only be applied to tuition costs. Scholarship winners are responsible for their own transportation and ancillary expenses such as books, meals and lodging.
