Aero-TV: Sporty's Transition Courses - You Can Now Start a New Rating Online

Aviation Provides MANY Extraordinary Adventures and Opportunities... Sportys Shows You How To Enjoy Them!

While at Sun ‘n Fun 2015, ANN’s News Editor, Tom Patton, checked in with Sporty’s Pilot Shop to see how their new online training programs are coming along. He spoke with Chris Clarke who is a video specialist for Sporty’s.

Sporty’s was one of the early pioneers in providing training programs on computer DVD media, and they have now moved to an online training format to keep up with the technology and advantages of online training.

Clarke explained some of the advantages of the online training programs are easy access, and they offer more interactivity and feedback by providing periodic quizzes. When completed, the trainee receives a completion certificate that can be used for credit in the FAA Wings program.

The courses help pilots obtained certificates and ratings, but new courses have now been added that address transition training. The need for transition training has been a hot button with the FAA, and Sporty’s offers these courses for such things as multiengine, seaplane, rotorcraft, and more.

As Clarke provides more details, you have a chance to see the courses in action in this video. This type of training can help trainees reduce training costs by being prepared before they start the actual flight portion of transition training.
