TFR Posted Over Nevada Ranch In Connection With Cattle Grazing Dispute

Flight Restriction Posted Through Mid-May

The federal government placed a TFR over the Bundy Ranch in Nevada as it waged something of a range war with rancher Cliven Bundy.

The TFR, which was listed to be in effect from April 11 through May 11, denied aircraft access to the airspace from the surface up to 3,000 feet AGL. It stated that "only relief aircraft operations under direction of the BLM are authorized in the airspace."

That would obviously prevent television news helicopters or other ENG aircraft from getting close images of what might be happening at the ranch. It would also mean that emergency services aircraft not working for BLM would be prevented from operating in the TFR area.

Fox news reports that the Federal Government pulled back from its standoff at the ranch Saturday, but said it would continue its legal fight to prevent Bundy's cattle from grazing on federal land unless he paid the proper fees. Whether or not he has been in compliance with the law is also in dispute There was, however, no indication that the TFR had been lifted.
