Construction Commences on New Signature HSV Terminal

$11.3-Million Facility Benefits Port of Huntsville

Signature Aviation announced ground had been broken and construction begun on a new executive terminal at Alabama’s Huntsville International Airport (HSV).

Signature’s new HSV terminal, which will cater to private, corporate, and government aviation customers, has been designed to meet the evolving needs of discerning travelers and aviation professionals, and to serve as a gateway to Huntsville and its thriving aerospace industry.

The groundbreaking ceremony brought together stakeholders the likes of the Port of Huntsville Board of Directors, Huntsville and Madison County community leaders, and members of the media. The proceedings were punctuated by addresses set forth by an august ensemble of speakers who collectively highlighted the new terminal’s significance and the positive impact it stands to have on the northern Alabama region.

Signature Aviation senior vice-president of operations Marty Kretchman stated: “The groundbreaking ceremony for Signature’s new HSV facility is helping highlight the importance of Huntsville as a destination for private aviation and as a key hub for aerospace, defense, and information technology. We’re thrilled to be kickstarting the next step in our efforts to serve our customers and the Huntsville community.”

The $11.3-million investment Signature has made in the new facility underscores the company’s commitment to delivering exceptional service, efficiency, and operational excellence. Spacious and elegant, the new HSV terminal will feature comfortable lounges, private meeting rooms, concierge services, and a plethora of additional amenities consistent with the needs and expectations of discerning air-travelers and professional air-crews.

As part of the facility upgrade, Signature HSV will expand its ramp-space, thereby extending the FBO’s front door experience to a larger range and number of aircraft.

Port of Huntsville CEO Butch Roberts remarked: “Signature has been an important partner with the Port of Huntsville since 1992, and for more than three decades, they have been instrumental in contributing to our growth as a commercial airport and an inland port, especially in our cargo operations. Signature responded to growing demand for air cargo support by investing in fuel trucks to keep jets flying and cargo moving through HSV with quicker turnaround times.”

Port of Huntsville Board Chair Trey Bentley added: “The first and last impressions that visiting corporate leadership will have of our community will be the air terminal they taxi up to when visiting Huntsville. As a private pilot and business owner, I understand the importance of these impressions, and at HSV, we have a first-class corporate aviation operation. This will be reflected in modern, attractive improvements to the Signature terminal.”

Founded in 1879 as W. Wilson Cobbett Ltd. and alternately renamed Scandinavia Belting in 1911, British Belting & Asbestos in 1925, and BBA Group in 1967, the company known today as Signature Aviation has evolved from a maker of industrial supplies into one of the world’s preeminent global aviation concerns.

In addition to fuel; ramp; and aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services, Signature’s network of over two-hundred private aviation terminals in 27 countries offers more than 11-million-square-feet of carbon-neutral multi-use office and hangar real estate.
