Avidyne Secures Cirrus Vantage 12 Certification

Features Touch Screen Displays, 3D Synthetic Vision, Terrain Awareness

Avidyne Corporation, provider of integrated avionics systems, announced it received FAA certification of its Vantage 12 Flight Display System to retrofit in Cirrus aircraft, specifically targeting Entegra-equipped and pre-Entegra Cirrus SR20/22 Series aircraft. Avidyne made the announcement at the EAA AirVenture airshow and fly-in this week at Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The Vantage 12 can be installed using a modular approach, enabling Cirrus owners to upgrade in stages. That would involve initially the DFC90 autopilot, then adding IFDs, and then Vantage displays. Or it can all be performed at once, permitting customers flexibility for budgetary considerations.

Fabrice Kunzi, President of Avidyne said, “Avidyne was first to bring large-format, wide-horizon displays to the light GA market with Entegra, and now Vantage 12 delivers next-generation technology for owners of these earlier Cirrus aircraft.

“Vantage 12 provides an easy and cost-effective upgrade to industry-leading 12-inch diagonal touch screens, 3D Synthetic Vision, dual Attitude Reference Systems (ARS) that provide full redundancy, plus many more great features that make flying easier and more enjoyable,” he added.

Dan Schwinn, Avidyne’s CEO said, “We are delighted to announce that Vantage 12 is now certified and initial deliveries and customer installations are in process. While modernizing their flight deck with great new features, current Entegra users will find the Vantage 12 system very familiar to operate in terms of ease of use, with a minimal transition learning curve.”

The Vantage 12 has large 12-inch LCD touchscreen displays for the PFD and MFD that are significant improvements in size, brightness, and processor performance over the legacy systems.

The system includes synthetic vision with 3D display of terrain, traffic, obstacles, airports, and flight plan overlay. Pilots can control the system with either the touchscreen or buttons and knobs.

Avidyne will have the Vantage 12 System on display at its exhibit in Booth #3130A in Hangar C at AirVenture.
