ANN To Go 'Real-Time'

News Posted As It Happens

For years now, aviation-types have checked Aero-News Net for information they can't get anywhere else: daily reports on what's happening on the ground, in the air and high in orbit above the Earth. Seven days a week, ANN publishes the very latest aviation and aerospace news. Now, the goal is to achieve real-time status.

Aero-News is going live.

"The idea is to be even more timely," says ANN editor Pete Combs. "When aviation news breaks, we'll be there to report it immediately."

Publisher Jim Campbell says that means more news more often. "Readers will get much more timely news. They'll be able to check back several times throughout the day for new stories and updates to existing articles. That's going to make Aero-News a lot more valuable to the consumer."

ANN will still publish a newsletter, ready for morning consumption. It will contain the latest news from our overnight desk, as well as articles published over the past 24 hours.

"That's all fine," he says, "but we really need input from aviation news consumers about just what they want in a real-time format. Do they want news alerts? Do they want shorter stories during the day with a full-blown article on the subject every morning? We're going to need reader input if we're to make this work."

If you have a suggestion on how to better real-time news, then ANN wants to hear from you. You can write him at publisher@aero-news.net.

"If you'd like a response, let us know," Combs says. "Otherwise, we'll take your input under advisement so we can craft a better news product."
