The Worse You Want It, The Worse You'll Get It

Terry Cordingley at Metro Networks gave us this heads-up: Oklahoma lawmakers could be called back to the state capital for a special legislative session if Governor Brad Henry feels new laws need to be passed to attract a new Boeing manufacturing plant. Henry told reporters at a news conference Thursday afternoon he feels Oklahoma is "right in the hunt" for attracting a manufacturing plant for Boeing's new 7E7 airliner.

All taxpayers get to pay for some taxpayers' jobs

Cordingly continued to report that the gov said if the state gets down to the final cut, legislative action might be required to "tweak the Quality Jobs Act" and do some other things the state proposed to Boeing. State and city officials in Tulsa hope to land the new Boeing plant, which could bring with it about one thousand jobs.

He notes, "Voters in Tulsa County recently passed the Vision 2025 initiative, which provides $350 million in incentives to Boeing in an effort to lure the plant to the area." That may not be enough, as communities in about 20 other states have also submitted proposals to Boeing.
