Kirby Chambliss Announces Team Chambliss Intern

Teenager Has Been Working At Airports Since He Was 14

It's the internship a lot of us wish we'd had. Saying he "feels a strong responsibility toward encouraging the next generation of pilots and empowering our youth to realize the dream of flight," Kirby Chambliss has announced that Danny Onofryton (pictured) will be joining Team Chambliss as an intern. At 19 years old, Onofryton said he is thrilled to be a part of the team and is its youngest member.

Onofryton says he has loved aviation for as long as he can remember. Starting at the age of 14, Danny began working at a small airport in Northern Wisconsin as a line employee where he saved his earnings and funded his passion for flying. By his 18th birthday, Danny had earned his Commercial and Instrument certificates.

Onofryton worked with the team at a few airshows over the summer including EAA Airventure Oshkosh. As the team intern he will be learning as much as he can and helping out the team during the Red Bull Air Races, and will be attending Arizona State University next year.

“I feel so strongly about securing the future of the next generation of pilots,” Chambliss said. “Everyone in aviation has the responsibility of keeping the dream alive for our future generations.” With the 2014 return of the Red Bull Air Races, Kirby says “I am super excited about the return of the Red Bull Air Race in 2014 and what it means for aviation! I see so much excitement among young children and teenagers, not to mention adults, it's awesome!”

Chambliss says he plans to seek out and interacting with kids and young adults at every airshow at which he performs, and in every other opportunity he has.
