United Assigns All-Female Crew For Delivery Flight

No Men On Board For Flight From Boeing Field To O'Hare

When United Airlines took delivery of its latest 737-900ER airplane last week, it made a statement about the role women play with the airline. It assigned an all-female flight deck and cabin crew for the ferry flight from Boeing Field in Seattle to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.

The captain on the flight was Kim Noakes, and her first officer was Jan Lumbrazo. It was reportedly the first time that United had taken delivery of a new airplane with an all-female crew, according to the Chicago Business Journal.

Along with the flight officers, the flight attendant crew was also comprised of all women, and female employees of United Airlines filled every seat in the airplane.

The flight took place on the first anniversary of United's internal Business Resource Group called uIMPACT, which "promotes and empowers" women employed by the airline.
