AD: Airbus SAS Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2019-21-05

PRODUCT: Certain Airbus SAS Model A330-200, A330-200 Freighter, A330-300, A340-200, A340-300, A340-500, and A340-600 series airplanes.

ACTION: Final rule; request for comments

SUMMARY: This AD was prompted by reports that non-approved passenger oxygen containers (POCs) may have been installed on the affected airplanes.

This AD requires a one-time special detailed inspection (SDI) of each POC, and replacement if necessary, as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference.

DATES: This AD becomes effective November 21, 2019. The FAA must receive comments on this AD by December 23, 2019.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 0 airplanes of U.S. registry. If an affected airplane is imported and placed on the U.S. Register in the future, the FAA will provide the following cost estimates to comply with this AD:

  • Labor: 1 work-hour × $85 per hour = $85 per airplane.
