Following what they say was a year-long public Market Survey effort, CubCrafters has officially decided to certify and offer a nose wheel option for its Part 23 certified aircraft, the CC-19 XCub.
The company also notes that hundreds of hours of real-world use by a variety of pilots of varying skill levels during the Market Survey phase led to many design improvements that wouldn’t otherwise have been possible in an internal-only development setting. With a robust trailing-link nosewheel assembly and large tundra tires as an option for the mains, the nosewheel equipped XCub is capable of handling primitive landing strips and most off-airport type operations. 2020 will go down in aviation history as a very tough year... we lost the AEA Convention, dozens of Airshows, military teams had to stand down, Sun 'n Fun didn't happen and worst of all, Oshkosh was killed off... all due to a virus and the panic that surrounded it. Even with an iron-clad cancellation, talk has been popping up about venturing to Oshkosh for the week of the Fly-In and having an impromptu get-together... which is getting strongly countered by EAA and the airport, itself. Stephen M. Dickson, has affirmed that the Boeing 737 MAX will only return to service following the completion of a comprehensive and rigorous review process. Further; he has promised to fly the aircraft, himself, before certification. Before the aircraft returns to the skies, the FAA must sign off on all technical reviews of Boeing’s proposed safety enhancements, Administrator Dickson said during testimony before a Senate Committee.
