Classic Aero-TV: Mission Incredible - Commemorative Air Force 2016

From 2016 (YouTube Version): Get Involved In One Of The Coolest Segments of Aviation...

Just about everyone in aviation has at one time or another heard of the Commemorative Air Force; better known to everyone as the CAF. ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, talked with Adam Smith who is the Executive Vice President of Strategic Development for the Commemorative Air Force, and asked him to talk about the organization and their mission.

The CAF brings a combination of leadership, commitment to the past, and an eye to the future. The CAF got its start when Lloyd Nolen and a small group of ex-service pilots from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas pooled their money to purchase a P-51 Mustang in 1957. From there, it grew into the organization we know today.

Smith talks about how the CAF provides the opportunity for anyone to become involved in preserving the history and educating people about these aircraft and the important role they played in the life of Americans. He reminds us that through CAF displays and demonstrations, people are not only learning about the aircraft, their learning about the history of their own country. He specifically addresses the value of the Red Tail Squadron and explains their purpose and mission.

In the video you’ll gain some valuable insight about this awesome organization and, of course, you will get to see some great video of these airplanes in action.
