Skyservice STC Meets Future Air Navigation System 1/A+ and Aeronautical Telecommunications Baseline 1 Requirements
The FAA and TCAA have granted STC approval to Universal Avionics (UA) Authorized Dealer, Skyservice Business Aviation for its Bombardier Learjet 45 ‘NextGen and Beyond’ upgrade. EASA approval for certification is imminent.
Completed for a corporate customer, the certification covers the addition of a UA UniLink™ UL-801 Communications Management Unit (CMU) and CVR-120R Cockpit Voice Recorder to the already installed UNS-1Ew SBAS-Flight Management System (FMS).
The upgrade offers operators capabilities for current and future mandated technologies including:
- Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC)
- CPDLC Departure Clearances (DCL)
- Enroute Data Communications (Data Comm)
- Oceanic Future Air Navigation System (FANS) 1/A+
- Aeronautical Telecommunications Network Baseline 1 (ATN B1)
- Localizer Performance with Vertical Navigation (LPV) / Performance-Based Navigation (PBN)
“This is yet another breakthrough with one of our top Authorized Dealers to bring cutting-edge technology to our aftermarket customers,” said Robert Clare, UA Director of Sales. “We continue to create, support, and deliver avionics solutions to operators worldwide to enhance their safety and operational efficiencies,” he added.
“Obtaining TCCA and FAA certification for CPDLC STC (FANS 1/A and ATN B1) for the Bombardier Learjet 45 is another reason why Skyservice remains a leading MRO,” said Paul Weeks, vice president, Maintenance for Skyservice Business Aviation. “With the support that we receive from Universal Avionics, we can ensure aircraft operators and owners benefit from this leading-edge technology now and well into the future.”
The first upgraded aircraft was delivered to the customer in July 2018, with the second and third aircraft expected for delivery in October 2019 and April 2020.
