FAA Expands Meetings With Industry

AEA and NATA Announce Schedules

As reported by the association in earlier correspondence to members and the maintenance community, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently approved a proposal offered by the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) and the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) to jointly sponsor regional meetings between FAA headquarters, FAA regional offices, Flight Standards District Offices (FSDOs) and FAR Part 145 certificated repair stations to review the final Advisory Circular (AC) on implementing the new Part 145 regulations to be published in the spring of 2003. The purpose of the meetings will be for FAA headquarters to present and explain the contents of the Part 145 AC so misinterpretations between repair stations and FAA regional offices and FSDOs will be minimized.

The association is pleased to announce that these meetings have been expanded from half-day to full-day events so that the FAA can also provide a session discussing the ongoing field approval process to attendees.

These meetings are free-of-charge and open to all individuals interested in attending. The FAA will also be strongly encouraging regional offices and FSDOs to attend the meeting within their region.

The first regional meeting will be held in conjunction with AEA’s annual convention on April 22 in Orlando (FL). Details about this meeting can be obtained by visiting AEA’s Web site. The second regional meeting will be held directly after NATA’s convention on Friday, May 16, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas (NV).
