ANN's 'Who's Who' At Sun 'n Fun 2021: Gary DeVore

Introducing Staff, Stringers, Videographers, And People Who Make It All Work

Anyone who's ever been to events like Oshkosh and Sun 'n Fun knows that there are hundreds of events and activities as well as tens of thousands of people that descend (some quite literally) on these locations each year. While we have a very hard-working and dedicated staff, ANN could not provide you with the extensive information we do without the help of some equally ... some might say more ... dedicated volunteers who give a week of their time to make sure you have the best possible coverage of the show. As we lead up to this year's edition of the Sun 'n Fun Digital Daily, we'll be introducing you to a number of the people that make all of that possible.

Gary “Dave” DeVore: Photographer

This is Gary’s first year as part of the Aero-News team. Gary got hooked on photography at the age of 10 when his father gave him his first camera. Since then, he has carried one everywhere he goes. He has seen the evolution of photography from film, to early digital point and shoots, to today’s modern DSLRs. After high school, he joined the US Air Force and was sent on a 22-year long adventure. While in the Air Force, he had the opportunity to travel the world, camera always in tow, documenting life through the lens. After retiring from the Air Force, he followed his passion for photography and found a home at the ESPN Sports Complex in Orlando, FL where he has been a sports photographer for the past 9 years. The skills he gained in shooting action sports transferred well to aviation photography.

Growing up near Chanute AFB, IL, Gary remembers seeing the Air Force Thunderbirds at a young age and was hooked on aviation from that moment. While in the Air Force, he worked several air shows – including Sun ‘n Fun – supporting both the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds. Though his primary duty was not photography, he always had his camera handy to capture the shows.

“It is a unique opportunity for me to combine two of my passions, photography, and aviation while working with Aero-News Network.”

Gary runs GDevore Photos which focuses on youth, high school, and amateur sports in the Orlando, Fl area.
