Private Jets Carry Participants To Global Warming Conference

One Of The Topics At The World Economic Forum Being Held In Davos, Switzerland

About 1,700 of those symbols of blatant corporate greed and excess are arriving in Davos, Switzerland this week for the World Economic Forum, where one of the primary topics to be discussed is global warming.

Many of those participating in the event in the playground for the rich are arriving by private business jet.

We say that with more than a little sarcasm, or course. You'll find no greater champion of business aviation that you'll find here.

Breibart relays a report from Newsweek that says the Swiss Armed Forces has been required to make space available for the large number of private jets at a military air base for the first time.

Among the topics for discussion at the forum is global warming, which seems a bit ironic when aviation in general and business jets in particular have been blamed for expelling too much carbon into the atmosphere. But former Vice President Al Gore, who has become a billionaire trading carbon credits, will be at the forum to discuss his favorite topic.

Also on the agenda is "income inequality" at an event that costs a minimum of $40,000 to walk through the door, according to Breibart.

“Decision-makers meeting in Davos must focus on ways to reduce climate risk while building more efficient, cleaner, and lower-carbon economies,” former Mexican president Felipe Calderon told USA Today.

More than 2,500 participants are taking part in the Annual Meeting, held from January 21 to 24.
