Mid-Michigan College Offers Drone Training

Open To Both Aspiring Professionals And Hobbyists

Mid-Michigan College in Mount Pleasant, MI is offering drone training classes geared both towards aspiring professionals and hobbyists who want to be better operators.

The school's Drone Training is designed to teach drone piloting skills, address the various types of drone systems on the market, identify the potential uses and industry applications for drones, and prepare students to successfully pass the remote pilot knowledge test, required for FAA certification.

Courses include Remote Pilot Knowledge Test Prep which is described as a highly focused course preparing the student for the test to receive FAA commercial certification.

The school also offers an Intro to Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Drones, an 18-hour, comprehensive, hands-on training course which gives students all the skills and information needed to start piloting drones safely and legally. Topics include safety best practices, piloting skills, types of flight systems, their capabilities, and which types are best suited for specific uses, drone photography & videography skills, how drones can be used in business and industry applications, and how to apply drone technology to increase efficiency. This class is also designed to prepare students to successfully pass the remote pilot knowledge test and achieve FAA remote pilot certification.

There is also a 24-hour course designed for public safety personnel.

Adjunct professor faculty member Robert Giuliani told the Midland Daily News that the school hopes to expand its drone offerings in the future.
