ALPA Pilots Promote The Profession At Oshkosh 2018

One Event Targeted Specifically At Attracting Women To The Ranks

As part of ALPA's continuing mission to promote the piloting profession, dozens of ALPA pilots will be on hand at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, the largest annual gathering of aviation enthusiasts in the country.

In addition to leading hands-on activities at KidVenture each day, this year ALPA pilots will be presenting at two education sessions:

Learn What Airline Pilots Do—Wednesday, July 25

  • 1:00–2:15 p.m.
  • Location: Forum Stage 2–GAMA
  • Presenter: First Officer Mark Haley

Crave an exciting, rewarding career with office views that can’t be beat? Become a professional airline pilot! From planning to landing, airline pilots are involved in every aspect of the flight. They also have many other duties and responsibilities to help ensure each flight is safe and secure. While no two flights are the same, we’ll give you an inside look at a pilot’s “normal” work schedule. Get ready for takeoff—you’re Cleared to Dream.

ALPA Women Fly—Thursday, July 26

  • 2:30–3:45 p.m.
  • Location: Forum Stage 8–ForeFlight
  • Presenter: First Officer Kandy Bernskoetter

Join this panel of female ALPA pilots from regional, major, and cargo carrier airlines speaking about their career paths, experiences, and how they balance family and work life. Questions from the audience are highly encouraged.
