Raytheon Gets Big Order For Weapons Assemblies Repair

Work To Commence On F/A-18 AN/APG-65 Radar

Raytheon Technical Services has been awarded delivery orders totaling $16.6 million by the US Navy for the repair of weapons replaceable assemblies and shop replaceable assemblies associated with the F/A-18 AN/APG-65 radar.

These delivery orders provide funding for repair work during the Navy's Fiscal Year (FY) 2005. With the exception of array repairs -- which will be performed at Raytheon's El Segundo, Calif., facility because of specialized needs -- work will be performed in Indianapolis. The contracting activity is the Naval Inventory Control Point (NAVICP) Philadelphia.

"Over the years that Raytheon has provided airborne radar repair and refurbishment services to NAVICP, we have continually improved our repair performance," stated John P. Balaguer, RTSC vice president and general manager of RTSC's Indianapolis-based business unit. "During FY04, our lean repair initiatives reduced the number of in-process repairs by 30 percent and the time it takes to accomplish those repairs by 40 percent. With these and future initiatives, we will be able to realize similar benefits in FY05 for our NAVICP customer."

Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC provides technology solutions for defense, federal and commercial customers worldwide. It specializes in product and systems support, customized engineering and on-site engineering solutions.

Raytheon Company, with 2003 sales of $18.1 billion, is an industry leader in defense and government electronics, space, information technology, technical services, and business and special mission aircraft. With headquarters in Waltham, Mass., Raytheon employs 78,000 people worldwide.
