The crew said there was "excessive vibration" in their No. 4 engine, combined press information center officials said. The C-5 Galaxy declared an in-flight emergency Jan. 8, at 6:20 a.m. Baghdad time.

The craft returned safely to the airport, with no injuries among the 11 crewmembers and 52 military personnel on board. Air operations at the facility continue, said officials. The were not injured.

The aircraft is assigned to 22nd Airlift Squadron at Travis Air Force Base, Calif. Initial reports indicate the incident is the result of hostile action from the ground, but the type of weapon and other details are unknown, officials said.
