CNN To Air 'Sunshine Superman' BASE Jumping Documentary

Follows The Career Of Carl Boenish, The Father Of BASE Jumping

Following its worldwide premier at the Toronto Film Festival last year, the documentary film "Sunshine Superman" will be shown on CNN in its television premier January 17th at 9:00 p.m. EST.

The film follows the career of Carl Boenish, knows as the "Father of BASE Jumping". BASE is an acronym for Building, Antenna, Span, and Earth.

Boenish was fatally injured in a jump off the Troll Wall in Norway on July 7, 1984. The previous day, he had completed a successful double BASE jump with his wife Jean for a Guinness World Records" television special, according to Wikipedia.

Boenish filmed his first jumps from El Capitan using air-ram parachutes in 1978.

CNN holds the exclusive television rights to "Sunshine Superman" for 2016, according to the website The Wrap. After its January 7 premier, it will be available for streaming on www.CNN.com/go for seven days.
