Bernalillo County Sheriffs Grab Modern Huey

Black and Red Helo Begins its Watch Over Metropolitan New Mexico

Bell's 412EPI remains a popular aircraft, as evidenced by its continued sales strength around the world.

True to its military roots, more than half the global 412 fleet is operated in some governmental capacity, a testament to its capable design...and the sometimes eye watering cost of a helicopter that size. The Bell 412EPI was the subject of a recent handover press conference at Double Eagle II Airport in New Mexico, where a brand-new aircraft was tendered to the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office. The 412EPI has still got 'it' even in a world of more modern airframes, offering buyers room for 14 passengers, a top speed of 122 knots, and a range just short of 360 nautical miles. Its wide, capacious cabin allows for all kinds of cargo and mission layouts, and decades of aftermarket development mean there's no shortage of mission-specific equipment to install. Bernalillo will put their new Bell to work with the Metropolitan Air Support Unit, providing general public service support to New Mexico's biggest population center.

“Bell is excited that MASU is expanding upon their aerial parapublic capabilities with the Bell 412EPI,” said Lane Evans, managing director, North America. “Combining its wide-cabin space and modern flight technology, the Bell 412EPI has proven its reputation as a multi-mission ready aircraft in the public safety field.”

“Safety and efficiency in response operations are paramount to the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office. With the integration of the Bell 412EPI into our Metro Air Support Unit, we are enhancing our capability to manage emergencies effectively and significantly improving our service to the community,” said Sheriff John Allen. “This aircraft represents a leap forward in our public safety efforts, equipped with state-of-the-art technology to support our mission.”
