FAA Grants STC For MT-Propeller MTV-9 On Cessna T182 Airplanes

Follows EASA STC Issued Earlier

The FAA has issued and STC to MT-Propeller for the installation of its next generation 3-blade scimitar composite propeller MTV-9-B/200-52 on Cessna T182, T182T, TR182 airplanes powered by the Lycoming engines TIO-540-AK1A or O-540-L3C5D (turbocharged in accordance with Cessna Drawing No. 2250065). This installation is already certified by EASA STC 10060691.

According to MT-Propeller vice president Martin Albrecht, the installation offers the following advantages:

- Improved climb performance by 7 % (MTOW, ISA conditions).
- Approximately 13 lbs less weight than the original propeller.
- Lower noise and vibration level.
- Two knots faster depending on power setting and altitude.

182T and TR182 models comply with the strict German noise regulations 2010– "Landeplatz Lärmschutz Verordnung" for unrestricted airport operations in Germany and other European Countries.

The MT-Propeller natural composite blades provide significant inside and outside noise reduction. They have no life limitation, and are repairable in case of damage, according to the company.

They also provide best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operation and have bonded on stainless steel leading edges for best erosion protection of the blades, the company says.
