One Week Wonder Finishes Flight Testing

Followed The EAA Flight Test Manual For The 40 Hour Program

The 2018 One Week Wonder, a Van’s RV-12iS that was completed in seven days and flown exactly one week after construction began during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2018, has finished its flight testing earlier this month after 40 hours were uneventfully flown in the weeks since its first flight.

The RV-12iS was flown by EAA staff during its flight testing in accordance with the new EAA Flight Test Manual, which will be ready to ship in a few weeks and is available for preorder now.

EAA Flight Training Manager Joe Norris was one of the EAA staffers who flew the airplane during its testing period, and he said both the Flight Test Manual and the RV performed admirably.

“The One Week Wonder RV-12iS proved to be a wonderfully handling airplane, in the Van’s Aircraft tradition,” Joe said. “Our flight testing allowed us to put our new EAA Flight Test Manual through its paces as well. Both the aircraft and the manual proved to be winners.”

Now that it is finished with flight testing, the One Week Wonder will visit some chapters and head to Arkansas, so that the winning design, created by Scheme Designers and chosen by EAA members, can be painted on the airplane by Rose Aircraft Service. After that, it will appear at the 2019 SUN ’n FUN International Fly-In & Expo.
