Dassault Falcon Opens New Flight Operations Center at Teterboro Airport

Directly Across From Headquarters

Dassault Falcon Friday opened a new Flight Operations Center at Teterboro Airport. The facility will be home to the company's 23 person Flight Operations department and the Falcon demonstration fleet. It will also house three local Field Service Representatives. The new facility is directly across from the Dassault Falcon Jet's Headquarters.

"Having the Flight Operations Center so close means that we can more easily show our customers and operators our products; meet with customer flight crews; and enhance the spec and design process in one visit," said Matt Boyle, Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Dassault Falcon. "Internally this will make it more efficient to carry out our corporate mission and ease the lines of communications between so many vital departments." Boyle also oversees Flight Operations.

The new, 32,200 square foot building complex provides much-needed space for the Flight Operations department and the demonstration fleet. The hangar itself can hold up to six Falcons including the new Falcon 7X. There is 9,700 square feet dedicated to office space. Almost 130 parking spaces have been created. In total, 2.9 acres of land has been developed.

Dassault Falcon Flight Ops hasn't always had such ample work space. Although Falcon Jet operated an FBO for nearly 20 years starting in 1972, the original home to the department was Hangar 119 at Teterboro which consisted of a half of a lean-two with 1,600 square feet of work space. When Falcon Jet relocated from the south side of Teterboro to Hasbrouck Heights (NJ) in the early 1980s, half the Flight Operations department followed. The other half relocated to a small office space above Hangar 113 that consisted of two desks. One desk was for longtime Flight Ops employee Tom Major who is currently Director of Maintenance Operations for Dassault Falcon. The other desk was shared by the many pilots that would circulate through the cramped office.

Flight Ops quickly outgrew Hangar 113 and returned to the familiar surroundings of Hangar 119 to the same lean-two that they occupied earlier. For ten years, until 1997, that hangar space was shared with a Falcon operator. The operator moved to new space that year and the whole 3,600 square foot hangar was then taken over by Dassault. During that time period, Jet Aviation assumed responsibility of hangar operations at the South end of the airport from the Port Authority. Dassault Falcon Jet remained as a tenant in Hangar 119 until moving into the new home.

This is the third new hangar facility opening in as many months at Dassault Falcon. The Little Rock Completion Center and Dassault Falcon Jet/Wilmington each opened a new paint facility in June and July respectively. In total, 118,200 of new space have been opened at the three Dassault Falcon facilities since June 2004.
