Sporty's Adds to Tablet Mount Lineup

Rotating Kneeboard Aimed at Replacing Single-Position EFB Holders

Sporty's has continued to whittle away at cockpit annoyances with their new iPad Kneeboard, providing a small, compact tablet holder that fits most EFBs.

The Slimline iPad Kneeboard comes from the firm's Flight Gear line, allowing pilots to strap a tablet on and rotate it between portrait or landscape mode. Fitment is accomplished with elastic straps on the corners of the tablet, allowing it to fit iPads in cases or without, with room for charging cables as needed.

The system was made to provide just the right amount of flexibility on the flight deck, particularly useful for those flying IFR. “A rotating kneeboard is ideal for chart apps,” said Sporty’s President John Zimmerman. “You use landscape to view large sectionals or en route charts, then switch to portrait when you load an approach or airport diagram. There are no locks or latches to operate, so it’s a one-handed maneuver, but there is enough friction to keep your iPad in place once it’s rotated."

The system comes in 2 sizes, one to fit the range of iPad minis and similarly sized, ~7" tablets. The other accommodates 9" to 11" tablets and iPads, both ringing past the register at less than $23.
