Sport Pilot/Ultralight Ground School Course Available

In Time For This Flying Season!

An Aviation Ground School is beginning at Frederick Community College-Adult Education. The primary Goal is to aid in preparing students for FAA written tests for sport pilot, private, recreational and ultralight pilot. Curriculum includes Sport Pilot certification programs. NOTAMs, FAA Flight Service Briefings, Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) ADIZ and other security issues are included.

The program will benefit those who to want to prepare for Sport Pilot written examinations, new comers, ultralight pilots who have not yet passed the written tests for registration, airplane pilots in transition to ultralight-type aircraft, and existing pilots who want a comprehensive refresher.

The 8?week course will begin Wednesday, March 2, 2005, from 6:00pm until 9:00 pm. The course will continue each Wednesday (skip 3/16 & 3/23) evening on the Frederick Community College campus ending on May 4, 2005. This is a non-credit course and is not an FAA Wings program. During the last session the practice sport pilot and/or ultralight pilot written test will be administered for those who so request. Logbook endorsements for those wanting to take FAA written tests from authorized testing centers will be provided to those who are qualified.

Course cost is $185.00 tuition. Books will need to be purchased by the student prior to the start of class for approximately $88.00 depending on your specific area of interest (Airplane, Trike, or Canopy configuration).

No minimum age, medical condition, FAA ratings or prior aviation classes are required. Primary instructor is John Ballantyne a well-known pioneer of ultralight aviation and author of aviation training programs.
