Collins Preps For Shipping Smart Monitor With Airshow HD

Standalone In-Flight Entertainment System For BizAv

Collins Aerospace is prepping for the first shipments of its Airshow HD entertainment system that is integrated into Venue smart monitors for providing a standalone in-flight entertainment (IFE) system for business aviation customers.

This is the first time customers flying bizjets ranging from light jets to super-mids and heavy aircraft will be able to access Collins’ Airshow HD interactive streaming entertainment, moving maps, and 4K resolution in one single piece of hardware without having to upgrade to the full Venue cabin management system.

The system includes the Airshow HD mobile application with its familiar controls, iconography, and functionality from cabin monitors accessible with a finger tap on a smartphone or tablet. The app will be available for both iOS and Android systems so users can interact with Airshow HD from their personal devices or send content to a nearby cabin monitor for viewing.

Nathan Voight, Vice President and General Manager of Business and Regional Avionics at Collins Aerospace said, “Airshow HD unlocks the full potential of the Venue smart monitor, allowing business jet owners increased options to upgrade and customize their cabin entertainment systems at the pace they prefer.”

He added, “The standalone Airshow HD and smart monitor system provides the flexibility, customization and usability aircraft owners and operators have been searching for in cabin entertainment solutions.”

The standalone system is easy to install, maintain, and upgrade as technology improves and becomes available. It also merges seamlessly with aircraft connectivity systems to allow passengers to enjoy a home-like experience as they switch between entertainment, information, and personal content from the cabin.

The system is available for a variety of aircraft sizes and configurations, and has options for touchscreen smart monitors and the capability of integrating with third party apps such as streaming services, satellite television or personal carry-on content.
