eVTOL Drone Competition Has New Chair

Vertical Flight Society Runs Student Challenge

The Vertical Flight Society (VFS), as the leading non-profit organization promoting vertical flight, hosts a premier competition for students in the field.

The VFS announced the appointment of Adithya Ramaswami to serve as the Chair of the VFS Student Competition.

The VFS Student Competition is a global Design-Build-Vertical-Flight challenge that encourages university students to learn and develop the knowledge and hands-on skills of uncrewed (UAS) and eVTOL aircraft technology. The overarching goal is to prepare the next generation of engineers and leaders for success in this transformational segment of aviation.

Ramaswami’s duties include implementing strategies to further strengthen and empower the student talent to help develop the future eVTOL and UAS workforce. He will also be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of the competition, managing the request for proposal, and working together with partners, academic institutions, and faculty to broaden the impact of VFS on student experiences.

A graduate of Ohio State University with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, he founded and currently serves as the CEO of ParaWave, a U.S. drone company developing bleeding-edge technologies for first responders.

Angelo Collins, Executive Director of VFS said, “Adithya’s expertise in drone technology and his commitment to innovation make him an ideal leader for the DBVF Student Competition. We are excited to see how his vision and leadership will inspire the next generation of vertical flight engineers.”
