Tailwheel Pilots Unite!

Tailwheel Pilots Association Already Has 1,000 Members

The Tailwheel Pilots Association is pleased to announce its organizational creation and the launch of its official web site. Almost 1000 members have joined the new association in its first month of existence.

The Tailwheel Pilots Association was founded by Kevin Laufer. Kevin owns a 1946 Globe Swift and is a G-IV Captain for a corporate flight department based in Philadelphia. The Association is headquartered at the historic Flying W Airport in Medford New Jersey.

The Tailwheel Pilots Association (TPA) utilizes the Internet to facilitate its day-to-day operations and does so through the web site. All aspects of the association are conducted electronically via the web.

"My passion for old tailwheel aircraft and my past successes with building popular aviation web sites helped prompt me to start this organization," said 29-year-old Laufer. "I hope to promote, expand, and make tailwheel flying more accessible to the general aviation community through this association. The membership activity during our inaugural month has been exceptional."

The Tailwheel Pilots Association has three specific missions:

  • To promote and educate tailwheel flying and tailwheel aircraft to the aviation community by use of the World Wide Web
  • To create an online community dedicated to tailwheel aircraft and tailwheel flying for tailwheel pilots, student pilots, and tailwheel enthusiasts
  • To facilitate the advancement of tailwheel related services and organizations through online marketing initiatives with the web site
