500th G550 Tail Section Delivered To Gulfstream

Supplier Fokker Builds The Components In Europe

The 500th tail section for the Gulfstream GV/G550 program was handed over on September 20th to representatives of Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation. This delivery is regarded by both companies as a milestone.

The 15-year relationship between Fokker Aerostructures and Gulfstream has proved to be extremely successful and demonstrates team spirit in the true sense of the word. Fokker carries out the assembly of the tail section at its facility in Papendrecht in the Netherlands, while the composite and machining components are produced in Hoogeveen.

Good performance in the G550/GV program was an important contributing factor to the selection in 2008 of Fokker for design and production of the empennage and floor panels, and production of the bonded fuselage panels for the G650. This has further strengthened the good position held by Fokker in the business-jet market. The G650 empennage includes a number of revolutionary innovations, such as the application of a new generation of composite materials and the use of a new welding method.
