Experts Are On the Way To Answer YOUR Questions

One of the more intriguing features of the 2025 Affordable Flying Expo, scheduled for November 6-8 at the Sun n Fun Aerospace Expo campus, principally in Hangar A, is a Friday event we call the MOSAIC Town Hall.

Scheduled for Friday, November 7th at 1800ET, the MOSAIC Town Hall will be presented in the nearby Prop 75 building and webcast LIVE via www.airborne-live.net and for the attending audience. 

The format is simple... rather than having a bunch of folks stand up and tell you what they think you want to hear, we are asking our expert panel to briefly introduce themselves and then take questions from the audience and those attending online for the next hour or two. 

Our expert panel consists of an EAA staffer, Madison Nortz (pictured above), Nortz joined the Government Advocacy team at EAA in the summer of 2022. She is a graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, with a B.A. in Government and Legal Studies. In her role with EAA, Madison’s primary focuses are safety, airports, and airspace. During her time in Oshkosh, she worked to advance the MOSAIC rulemaking package, helping it transform from a proposed rule with an uncertain future to its current state as Sport Pilot 2.0. Today, Sport Pilot 2.0 is truly a new era in recreational aviation.

AEA’s Ric Peri, a well-known regulatory expert, will be joining us via ZOOM and has distinguished himself as one of the best regulatory experts we’ve ever worked with. Ric Peri has more than 50 years in aviation maintenance as a mechanic, instructor, writer, consultant and auditor.

In his current role as vice president of government and industry affairs with the Aircraft Electronics Association, Peri advocates for the avionics and maintenance industries before the aviation authorities worldwide with a primary focus on the Americas, Europe and the South Pacific regions.

Meredith Holladay, CFII (pictured below), is the Manager of Holladay Aviation and will be speaking about medical issues and concerns in the wake of a post-MOSAIC era. Meredith has logged more than 5,900 flight hours, most of which were spent teaching others how to fly.

Recently; she has produced a number of exceptional video programs talking about the medical changes we are seeing with MOSAIC and how each of us may fit into a MOSAIC future. 

Insurance issues are likely to see a LOT of changes as MOSAIC takes shape. Here to address that, is Pikwest’s Travis Marshall (pictured below). Travis graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2009 with a degree in Aviation Business. He has worked in both the Broker and Underwriting side of the aviation insurance marketplace for 15 years. Travis has managed drone and light aircraft accounts all the way up to large commercial fleets. As a Private Pilot, he has really enjoyed interacting with owner pilots who have a passion for flying as well. 

The entire event is open to the public… in-person and online.

As to AFE2025 itself, we’re planning on lots of demo flying, some intriguing flight displays of the latest Affordable Flyers, food trucks to take care of your munchies... and best of all, we’ve already landed some of the Sport Aviation industry's most prominent companies. With the FAA’s Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification rule, MOSAIC places heavier, faster, and more capable aircraft under LSA regulations. For many pilots and builders, it’s the most significant regulatory shift since the category’s birth, and could finally bridge the gap between certified and experimental flying -- but most important... it can allow more access to more pilots than anything we've seen in decades.
