Learn About Ultralights

Classes Start Next Tuesday

The latest ultralight class at Frederick Community College will begin on September 3, 2003. Folks who want to attend should not hesitate in contacting the school. John Ballantyne noted, "Guest instructors include Tom Gunnarson who pretty much knows everything!" [Ballantyne, who also knows nearly everything, is the primary instructor --ed.]

Frederick Community College is planning another ultralight/sport pilot ground school. The class begins Tuesday, September 2, 2003, from 6 to 9pm; and runs each Tuesday thereafter, for a total of 8 classes. (Tuesday, October, 14 is skipped because the school is closed.)

Take the 'U/L Written!'

This course is intended to make the student proficient in the knowledge required to sit for the Ultralight Pilot Written Examination in accordance with Federal Aviation Reg. Part 103.

The last class will be the ultralight pilot written test for those who so request.

During the class, students will be familiarized with FAA; Rules of the Air, Pre-Flight preparations, Ground & Airport Traffic Operations, Fundamentals of Flight, Maximum and Minimum performance levels and Flight by reference to Ground Objects and more.

Requirements: Come As You Are

No minimum age, medical condition, FAA ratings or prior aviation classes are required. Frederick Community College requires a minimum number of sign ups to commit, so call Greg or Ron at Frederick Community College (301) 846-2426. Tuition is $185 plus books.
